This morning I had an amazing experience with the dogs during my meditation that demonstrates so clearly how we impact our animals with our own emotions and energy. This is just so cool I had to share it with you.
Let me give you the background. Each morning before getting out of bed I spend about 10-15 minutes in Oneness. That is, I get quiet, focus on my heart center and experience that I am connected to all life. (Of course we are always connected to all life, but until we slow down to consciously feel that connection we lose awareness.) This reminds me of who I really am and what is important. It’s the best way I know to start the day.
Then each day I do another meditation where I work with my energy body to disconnect from other energy and revitalize my energy field. This only takes about 10 minutes and has been crucial in healing from the Lymes disease. (My new guided meditation will take you through the same process…it will be available soon). This process also helps me feel more like my true self and less vulnerable to drama or the emotion of others.
To prepare for writing my blog, I begin by doing the energy clearing and then about a 10 minute meditation blissfully listening and watching (through my mind’s eye) to see who is bringing me an enlightened message. Today, I never quite got there. After completing the energy clearing, I was immersed in that blissful place of connectedness when all hell broke lose. All the dogs started barking furiously as if someone had just broken into the house. This happens from time to time when the barn kitties venture to play near the house. It sometimes takes closing all the blinds and drapes to stop the madness. In my quiet mind I contemplated coming out of my state to ask them to stop barking…which would probably involve a firm ”quiet” or “no” (or maybe some loud ones). Instead, I decided to see what would happen if I expanded my energy field (which at the time was of a very high vibration) to fill the entire room. Within 30 seconds…no kidding…30 seconds the barking stopped. The dogs quietly retreated to their favorite spots and all went to sleep. Trust me, this was nothing short of miraculous for these guys.
I stayed in the bliss of this connectedness with the dogs for another 10 minutes. We were all hanging out and enjoying the peace of the moment. I decided to ask Hannah why she stopped barking. She shared this with me, “ I felt your energy come in and take over. I knew everything was okay and I didn’t have anything to protect. That is the most safe I have ever felt.” All I needed to do was send calm energy throughout the room and I created this peace for my dogs.

When I meditate, my cats, dogs, and parrots meditate too. It’s a wonderful feeling when we do it all together.

Life IS grand! Thanks for that reminder. I look forward to playing with my energy – what a great experiment. Also, thank you so much for the second-to-last paragraph about our animals choosing to be on this journey with us.

This was great, just what I needed since life has become a bit more stressful lately. But both my horses and a mini donkey put things back in perspective for me. Chase, the poor guy, had to work on me and my mental state for quite some time! But what a great job. Will have to get back to meditating more….

Thanks for sharing Wendy. I tried your technique the night after reading your blog. A very noisy thunderstorm came thru at 11:30 PM with an intense lightening show. My 70 lb German shepherd and 8 lb kitty were having thunder terrors and wanted me to ‘save them’. I have tried different techniques for my dog the entire 11 yrs that I have had her and have found no way to calm her thunderstorm fears. I dropped into TM meditation and expanded it out into the room as you suggested. By gosh, both the cat and dog layed back down and went to sleep!! Even with the thunderstorm continuing to cause a rucous outside!! Unbelievable…I was able to fall back to sleep myself and we all had a good night. You are fabulous!!!

Colette that is so cool. We are onto something here. Now we just need to teach everyone how to meditate at that depth!
